You can register your car at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. You’ll need the following documents:

• A stamped Registration and Title Application Form
• The Car Bill of Sale (for private sales)
• Previous title assigned to you (for used cars)
• Previous registration (if transferring plate registration)

To register, follow these steps:

1. Obtain and complete the application form (Registration and Title Application) and have the insurance agent stamp it
2. Gather the documents mentioned above
3. Submit the application and documents to the RMV
4. Pay the registration fees ($60 for two years)
5. Get your car inspected (for $35) for safety and emissions within 7 days of registration.
