Types of Delaware Bills of Sale
Delaware Vehicle Registration Forms
In Delaware, a Motor Vehicle Bill of Sale, also referred to as a car, vehicle, or DMV Bill of Sale, facilitates the transfer of automobile ownership.
You must register the vehicle at the DMV to update ownership records.
Before registration, the vehicle needs to pass an emissions and safety inspection.
Vehicle registration requires payment of a fee and submission of specific documents to the DMV. These include:
- A signed Bill of Sale with an odometer disclosure
- Application for title and registration (Form 212)
- The vehicle's identification or license plate number
- Proof of identity or a driver's license
- Evidence of Delaware insurance
An Affidavit of Motor Vehicle Gift Transfer may be necessary if you received the vehicle as a gift.
Delaware Boat Registration Forms
A Boat Bill of Sale is also necessary for the registration process with the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife. This can be done online, or at their headquarters, law enforcement offices, or authorized agents.
Delaware requires registration for all motorboats, including those with electric engines, if they are primarily used in the state.
Non-motorized boats and U.S. Coast Guard-documented vessels are exempt from this requirement.
To register, you must pay the required fees and submit the following documents:
- Completed Delaware Boat Bill of Sale
- Boat Title and Registration Application (REV 2019)
- Verification of the vessel's serial number if it was previously registered in another state
Delaware Firearm Registration Form
Delaware does not require firearm registration When selling a firearm privately, it’s advisable to create a Delaware Firearm Bill of Sale for your records.
This document can be useful for providing key information to law enforcement if the firearm is lost or stolen.
While there is no state permit required to purchase firearms, buyers must pass a background check. Obtaining a Weapons Carry License is necessary for carrying a concealed firearm in Delaware.
